We have placed a lot of information in the form of brochures, menus, etc. in a couple of notebooks in the home, but some of you may find the following bits and pieces of some value:
Downtown Black Mountain and a shopping center are within about 5 minutes of Thompson's Tuckaway.
Grocery stores: There are three chain type grocery stores (two are open 24 hours a day) within about 5 minutes of the house. One of the stores has a video rental counter. There are other stores within 10 minutes.
Drug stores: There are 2 major chain drugstores that stay open until 9:00 pm. All are within about 5 minutes.
General merchandise stores: At least two are within about 5 minutes.
Fast food: Almost anything you could want is within about 5 minutes.
Restaurants: There are a number of local restaurants--pizza, Mexican, barbeque, deli, German deli, steak & seafood, family type, bistro type, ice cream/fudge shop, etc. within about 5 minutes. In Asheville, there are many diverse cuisines available (15-20 minutes away).
Malls, major discount retailer, discount club: A major mall, a couple of discount retailers (Wal-Mart & K-Mart) and Sam's Club are located in Asheville, 15-20 minutes away. Other malls are within a half hour drive from the house.
Games, videos, etc.: We have put a number of music CD's, videos (Forrest Gump, etc.), games, puzzles, playing cards and books in the house for your convenience and enjoyment.
